Happy 5th Birthday Brody!!!

It is so hard to believe but our baby boy is now 5!!  The years have just flown by and time goes way too fast!  It has been so amazing watching him grow into the perfect little boy he is today!  He brings us so much joy and we are so truly blessed to be his parents!

It has been a very busy few weeks for us.  We celebrated Brody's birthday with family and close friends last weekend at Jungle Bungle.  The kids had a blast and the party was a lot of fun.  Brody has known for months that he wanted a Jungle Bungle party with a Henry Hugglemonster theme (one of his favorite shows). They had not come out with any directions for Henry Hugglemonster yet since it is a fairly new show so luckily I was able to find some online to make.  Thank you to everyone who came and helped us celebrate, we appreciate it so much!  After Brody's party we went to an indoor water park called Grizzly Jack's.  The kids had an awesome time!  They have an indoor water park, amusement park and arcade.  We will definitely go back!

On Brody's birthday on Tuesday, I took the kids to the children's museum in Iowa City, one of Brody's favorite places.  We went to lunch after and headed home and then went to Chuck E. Cheese that night.  Although I don't "love" Chuck E. Cheese :), they really do a nice job celebrating kids birthday's.  And even though we didn't have a party there they still did a lot of special things for Brody.  He had a great time!

Besides all the birthday celebrating we have been super busy with other things as well!  Brody had his second parent/teacher conference last month and again he is doing exceptionally well!  He has shown growth in every area and his teacher couldn't be prouder (and neither could we!).  She is amazed by how smart he is and he is starting to help some of the other kids with learning their letters, etc.  He is really growing and blossoming into such a big boy.  He continues to love art, drawing, writing, making projects, etc.  He loves to play store and restaurant.  He is starting to show some interest in sports and we got him a new basketball hoop that is adjustable and a soccer net for his birthday.  He also got a real baseball glove and baseball from Grandpa.  We are getting a touch of warmer weather so we have been trying to get outside and use all of his new things.

Briana is also doing well.  We definitely have our moments of "terrible twos" but I am very hopeful this is a phase and will pass.  It is funny because she will throw major fits for us at home or even out running errands but around other people she is as shy and sweet as can be!  She is extremely independent and does not want help with anything.  She wants to do it herself!!  She will take off the shoes I put on her because she doesn't want that "pair" or try to change clothes or jackets.  She is every bit of two!  We continue to work on potty training with her and some days she has more interest than others.  I am not going to force her but once the weather gets nicer we may try going naked and seeing if I can try her outside. :)  She will go on the toilet and often asks to go she is just not consistent with it.  I am trying to just let her do it in her own time since I felt like I really pushed Brody and that didn't work out well for us.  Briana knows all her colors and shapes and is learning her letters.  She is very bright and very eager to learn like her brother was at this age.  She wants to do/have everything Brody has at this point which can be cute but also cause fights.  They are definitely sibling and fight over many things but tend to resolve it in the end and play together.  Briana loves to play restaurant or store.  She is very into Disney Princesses, especially Frozen, and still loves Minnie Mouse.  She is very girly but will play with things her brother likes at the same time.

We had a second birthday party for Brody's classmates this past Sunday at the bowling alley.  Brody had wanted to invite some of his school friends to his party but since we have to invite the whole class (there are 19 kids) I thought it would be better to do something separate.  It turned out nice and the kids had a great time!  We bowled one game and then had pizza and cake.
