We got Brody's two year pictures back on Friday. We definitely got some good ones even though it always seems to be a challenge for us to get the little stinker to sit still! We also went to Brody's 2 year check up on Friday morning. The best part of the doctor's visit was hearing how great he was doing of course but also that he did not have to have any shots! He did have a finger poke for a mandatory lead test and he did not care for that at all! He did not like the band aid on his finger and kept trying to take it off! Now that he is two he gets to stand on the big boy scale and get his measurements taken against the wall. Not an easy task for a 2 year old! He now weighs 30 pounds and is 34 1/2 inches tall. We were asked a lot of questions about the different things he can do and answered yes to everything and our doctor said in some areas he is doing above what he should be so that is always good to hear. I brought along a list of all the words he says and we were asked if he says at least 20 words. He is able to say 30 (when he wants to) and she said that he is right where he needs to be and should take off talking at anytime now.
Brody is part of the Geoffery Birthday Club at Toys R Us so we were able to take him there to pick out something special for his birthday. Brody got a crown, balloon and his name announced over the loud speaker (which made Mommy tear up). Pretty neat thing that they do for kids and helps them to feel special on their special day. Daddy picked out a Cubs bat and ball for Brody and we also got a bowling set a soccer ball and a few polo shirts for summer.
Brody is doing some very cute things. He is really into pretend play right now and he will pretend like he is washing dishes or taking a drink from a cup after pouring water into it. He is still VERY into reading and I always ask him to point to certain things in a book for me so now he takes my (or Daddy's) finger and makes us point to things and tell him what they are. He is becoming more and more independent :(. He is also getting really good at using utensils. He is trying more and more foods and a new favorite seems to be hot dogs. Daddy got him the ones with cheese in the middle at the store and he ate 1 whole one and another half of 1 last night for dinner. He loves the songs "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "If your happy and you know it" and will sing along and do the actions. He really likes to say "hooray" during "When your happy and you know it". He is recognizing several body parts. He is also very into helping and loves to unload groceries from the bags or other items that we get from the store.
One thing that has been really tough for us over the past few weeks is that Brody is not sleeping well at all. It started right around when the time changed and we thought maybe that was it but it is still going on so we are not sure if he is getting his two year molars or what. He has always been a wonderful sleeper so it is strange for us when he doesn't want to sleep. Last night he was up from 3:40 to almost 7 am and then went back to sleep for a little while but by that time the rest of us are up and going so it makes for a tough night. We are hoping it is just a phase that he is going through. We went through something similiar when he got his one year molars but I don't remember him staying up for these long periods of time.
Not much else it new here. Hard to believe this week I will be 5 1/2 months pregnant. At times it really does seem to be going by fast but at others it seems to be going by slow. I know we are all anxious for the arrival of this baby girl. Hope everyone is doing well!
