If you are wondering what we the title of this post means, the Wren house is officially growing by two feet! Baby #2 will be joining our family on or around August 6th. Mommy is just a few days away from being four months along in the pregnancy. The beginning has been tough this time, lots of "morning sickness" but it is finally starting to subside somewhat. Just very tired which probably has something to do with keeping up with a very active 1 year old! We knew that we wanted our kids not too close together but not too far apart and also to have a least one of their birthdays in the summer. This will put the kids at 2 years and 5 months apart which seems like a good distance to us. Mommy has been feeling some guilt as to how she could possibly love another child as much as she loves Brody but with talking to other mothers this is very common and there will definitely be enough love for the two of them. We are hoping that Brody will want to be a little helper when it comes to the baby and have no doubt he is going to be a excellent big brother. The suspense has been killing us as to what the sex is since we know this is our last child. For Valentine's Day Daddy took Mommy and Brody to have an ultrasound of the baby at a place called Mom 2 Be Sonography. They do non medical ultrasounds as early as 14 weeks. We decided to wait an extra week until we were 15 weeks along in hopes that we could give the baby a few extra days to grow and have a better chance at seeing what our baby is going to be! For around the first 20 minutes the woman was saying girl but towards the end she thought maybe boy so we have a return appointment this coming Saturday to see if we can get a better answer. It is sometimes difficult to get a definant answer when they are this small as the genitals are just forming and can be swollen. The umbilical cord was also between the baby's legs which made it difficult to tell. We did get to see all ten fingers, toes, the spine, legs, arms, head, both chambers of the brain and the little heart beating which made the trip worth it even if we don't know the sex for sure. At our last few doctor's appointments the heartbeat has been easy to find but not keep because this baby is a MOVER! And we saw that first hand on the ultrasound. When we had Brody's ultrasound he was not shy at all about letting us know he was a boy within the first few minutes. Our ultrasound at the hospital is scheduled in the middle of March so I am guessing that will be the time when we know "for sure" what we are having unless we get some really good views this Saturday.
This weekend was busy for us. We celebrated Valentine's Day on Saturday with getting our taxes done and lunch (fun, fun I know!) and then had dinner with our good friends Carvell and Tiffany and their kids Saturday night. Yesterday we were visited by Grandma Barb and Aunt Melissa and the girls and today Brayden and Natalie came over to play. Brody has been spoiled for Valentine's Day and is a very lucky little boy.
Brody's new word over the past few days is "happy" and he is now saying close to 30 words but it is on his terms. He used to always repeat after us when we would say words but now he only does it when he wants too. Typical almost two year old! He is also into dumping out all his toys and making the largest mess he can. We are sure this is a boy thing but I often wonder why I even clean his toy room twice a day when all he is going to do is mess it up again! We have been working on counting to 10 and he is able to line up objects and point to them and is working on sounding out the words for the numbers. He loves when Mommy sings to him and lately we have been working on singing "Happy Birthday" (to prepare for next month!). When the song is over he claps at the end and then says "again" because he wants to hear it again. He has about 10 books that we let be just toy room books and he will make a pile of all of them next to one of us and sit on our lap as we read each one. His love for reading is just remarkable. Brody has know for awhile now how to turn on and off our T.V. and is starting to figure out how to use the remote. If Mommy or Daddy is watching something that is not to his liking he will bring us the remote, pull out our hand and open it, and stick the remote in it as to say "change it to something I like!" Here are a few pictures from our ultrasound and of Brody being Brody!
