This weekend we headed to Des Moines for baby Carvel's baptism. The ceremony was on Saturday night. Mommy and Daddy were very honored to be the Godparents of this special little boy. Brody did well during the service. We brought his stroller in and put him in it right before the baptism part. Except for throwing a few things on the ground he did well. After the service we went to a nice dinner with Tiffany's family. After that Carvell, Tiffany and the kids joined us at our hotel to go swimming. Very fun weekend and again such an honor for us to be a part of!
Brody is doing great and not much is new. He is really becoming quite the little reader and has his favorite books that he continues to have Mommy read over and over again. His favorites to read aloud are "Little Turtles" and his Brainy Baby bath book. Both are very short so he likes to have them read to him about 10 times at each sitting. He continues to love touch and feel books or books with flaps that he can look under as well. If we are reading a book that does not have one of those things he searches the pages trying to find it. Mommy is very happy that he loves reading so much and he will sit on her lap for long periods of time to listen to stories. We have been working on naming body parts over the past few months and Brody is able to point to his head, eyes and mouth. He gets the head every time and the eyes and the mouth every few times. He is really starting to enjoy playing on his own and spends a lot of time playing with his Little People Farm and also his trucks. Anything that makes noise or that he can put things into and take them out of sparks his interest. He is starting to grasp the concept of cleaning up and will help Mommy put toys away but he is a boy after all and soon enough they are dumped out again. It's the thought that counts, right?
On Friday Roy had hip replacement surgery and we are wishing him well and a speedy recovery. Mommy and Brody stopped by to visit the night before his surgery as Daddy was out of town. Daddy will be traveling again next week to Memphis. Hopefully after that he will be home for the remainder of the year.
We have been having what is called an "Indian Summer" with temperatures in the high 60's for the past few days. We plan on taking advantage of it this weekend with our first free weekend in months. We hope to get a lot of yard work done and put up our Christmas lights outside while it is nice.
