On Friday we had Brody's 15 month baby check up at the Doctor. Nothing makes a parent feel better than to hear their child is doing fantastic (Doctor's exact words). Brody weighs 24 pounds, 8 ounces which puts him in the 50 percentile for weight. He is 30 1/2 inches tall which puts him in the 25-50 percentile for height. Mommy and Brody waited for what seemed like forever to see the doctor but he did pretty good with the wait despite the fact that all he wants to do is run around these days. He had two shots which are never any fun but we know there is an end in sight as he will have a few more at 18 months and then be done for a few years. Our Doctor was very happy with Brody's eating habits, the words he has been saying, his walking and everything else he has been accomplishing. Brody can now say Jackson, Addie, Mama, Dada, Milk, More, All done, and Oh Girl (that's how Mommy calls Addie to get her inside).
This weekend was the 4th of July so we were pretty busy. On Saturday Daddy went golfing for most of the day so Mommy took Brody downtown to the Farmer's Market. We got some corn, fruit and a few treats for Addie. It was SO hot that we didn't last long down there. We played in Brody's pool in the afternoon because it was so warm. Mommy got Brody a "Sprinkle Mat" that you hook up to the hose. He won't sit on the mat but he will walk up to it and put his hands or toys in it. On Saturday night we took Brody to fireworks for the first time. He really liked looking at the colors and was very interested. Since Brody is usually in bed by 8 or 8:30, we had to leave the fireworks right before the grand finale because he was so tired. He was out the minute we put him in the car. On Sunday we met our friends Natalie, Bryan and Brayden at the 4th of July parade in Bettendorf. Carvell, Tiffany, Tatum and baby Carvel met us there as well. Tatum and Brayden enjoyed getting candy, popsicles and beads. Brody enjoyed watching everyone go by and seeing his friends. It was another hot day so after the parade we went to Grandma Diane and Grandpa Mel's to swim with Carvell, Tiffany and their little ones. Tatum and Brody had a blast in the pool and Tatum is becoming quite the little swimmer. We decided to only go to one night of fireworks this year because Brody was so worn out from the weekend and it was somewhat rainy on Sunday as well. On Monday Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a date during the day with lunch and a movie and Grandma Diane watched Brody for us. We went to see Eclipse and it was nice to do something just the two of us since we rarely do but we found ourselves missing Brody even though we were gone just a short time and he was napping most of the time we were gone.
All in all we had a great weekend and hope that everyone was able to get out and enjoy it. Now we are looking forward to two weeks of not much going on other than Daddy traveling a bit. Happy 4th of July!
