15 1/2 Months

We had a fun filled weekend this past weekend. On Friday night Daddy surprised Mommy and Brody by taking them to a nice dinner at the restaurant where we had our wedding rehearsal dinner, Trattoria Tiramisu. Mommy surprised Brody that night with a little "just because I love you" present, a Cub's teddy bear. Brody enjoyed playing with the box, wrapping paper and tissue more than the gift. He literally played with the wrapping for over a half hour! We celebrated Grandma Candy's 80th birthday (see previous post). Aunt Kimberly and Craig got into town on Saturday afternoon and we all went swimming at the Outing Club. We got together for dinner at Grandma Candy's and Brody got to meet Kimberly and Craig's new chihuahua puppy Gabby. Brody really liked Gabby because she is just his size! Sunday we had Grandma's party in the afternoon and then dinner at Grandma's that night. Brody got Grandma Candy a balloon bouquet for the party and carried a balloon in the car and loved playing with the balloons with Maggie at Grandma Candy's house!

Brody has been able to get to a standing position without pulling up onto anything for a few weeks now. He continues to become stronger with his walking and has been enjoying walking outside and finally likes to play in the grass (he used to hate the feeling of it). He is talking up a storm and can now say Jackson and tickle. He will repeat us when we ask him to say something and tries his best to make it sound like what he said. He will also say "Maa" for more and "Mmmmm" for milk. Mommy has been working a lot with him on the sounds that letters make. Brody was given a bunch of books from his cousins Julia and Maggie this weekend that they had outgrown and he loves listening to all the new stories. His favorite books right now are touch and feel and no matter what book we are reading he is always feeling the pages for textures. His favorite book is "B if for Bear", it is an alphabet touch and feel book and at the end there is a mirror where he can see his face. We have Brody's 15 month baby check up this Friday and are keeping our fingers crossed that he doesn't react to his vaccinations like last time. From what we have heard he shouldn't. We are curious to see how much he weighs. He has pretty much outgrown his 18 month clothes except for a few things and has started wearing 24 months. He is somewhat in between sizes were 18 months is too small but 24 months is a little big. We are looking forward to the 4th of July weekend and taking Brody to see fireworks for the first time. Last year he was too little so we kept him away from the fireworks. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy 4th of July!
