We had Briana's 1 year check up a week ago Friday. I remembered this being the worst appointment with Brody as they get 3 shots and a finger poke so I was not looking forward to it. Briana is doing great, hitting all her milestones right on track and growing just as she should. She weighed in at 18 pounds, 15 ounces so she is still not big enough to get out of her carrier. Brody was 23 pounds at 1 year so their is about a 5 pound difference between the two of them. She is 27 and 3/4 inches long and her head is 46 centimeters. She is in the 5% for height ( sorry baby girl :( ) and is in the 33% for weight. Her head is in the 80% so that must be her big brain. :) She is such a little peanut girl!! We had a scare at her appointment as after the examination the doctor came back in and told me she was concerned about something she felt in her neck. I did not feel anything when the doctor showed me where it was but we ended up having to get a chest x-ray and full blood work drawn that day. Such a tough appointment as it was and then with all of that on top of it, it became a complete nightmare. Definitely one of the hardest things I have experienced as a mother this far. Luckily things look okay and the doctor is thinking it is just a more defined muscle on that side. I will take her back in a month for a recheck. In the meantime keep us in your prayers that all turns out okay!!
Briana may be small but this girl can EAT!!!! She eats three times what her brother does right now, it is crazy. I decided to give her round 2 of a birthday cupcake when we were at home with just the four of us and she liked it much better this time. Must have been too much pressure with everyone looking at her! She has not quite figured out the sippy cup yet but we keep trying and she seems to really like whole milk in her bottle. I am still supplementing her with a bottle at night and in the morning since she is so tiny. She is standing on her own, cruising the furniture, cruising the walls and pulling up on anything that will stand still. She is waving, saying Mommy, Daddy and Up and will dance on command (which is so stinking adorable). She is such a sweet and happy baby but she sure is a little sass and has all the looks of death to go along with it! :)
Brody is doing great as well. We are really trying to let him be more independent and do things on his own now. He is becoming more helpful around the house and is really growing into a "little boy". His speech continues to develop everyday and he knows so many words now, he is just learning what to do with them all. Potty training is continuing and some days are better than others but he definitely does not fight it and asks to go a few times a day. He usually has accidents when he is too busy playing or too lazy to go. We are noticing that 3 year olds throw way more temper tantrums than 2 year olds but we are managing them and working our way through. He definitely has a hard time understanding boundaries with all his new born freedom which I think is part of the difficulty. Brody has been playing a lot with his friend Carter, they get along great and it is nice to have Carter back in town and close. We have been getting outside as much as possible to enjoy our few weeks left of nice weather.
We had a garage sale this past weekend and are almost rid of all of our baby things. We had a pretty good turnout and it is nice to clear up some space. I am donating a good amount of stuff to the Salvation Army this time as well so we don't have to pack it all up and store it again. Mostly adult clothes and household items as I think most of them we had before we started dating so it is definitely time to get rid of them! It's nice to make some extra money but man is it a lot of work, especially a week and a half after getting back from Florida!!
50 degrees yesterday!
