Trying to stay cool!

If we could use one word to explain our summer temperatures right now it would be HOT! We have had heat advisories several times over the past few weeks. We have mostly been staying indoors and taking advantage of the air conditioning. We have made a few trips to the pool but we try to go at night when it isn't so hot!

Last weekend we took Brody to a little waterpark in town called Splash Landing. We went late in the day on Sunday and it was a little overcast at that time and not crowded at all. I was so impressed with the "toddler" area, it is fully sectioned off and zero depth entry. We were a little disappointed as the spray areas were not working when we were there but had a good time none the less. Brody enjoyed playing in the water, the extra large sandbox and he even went down the water slide for the very first time. It was a great ending to our weekend!

This weekend was super hot so we spent most of it inside. Daddy went golfing on Saturday for most of the day so Brody and Mommy spent a nice day at home together. We did go swimming on Sunday evening and will probably go a few times this week as the heat does not look to be letting up anytime soon. Yesterday Brody got his first set of alphabet flash cards and shape flash cards. We took him to Borders yesterday and this kid would so much rather get new books than new toys! He loved looking at all the books and "reading" to himself. We literally read 30 books a day (I am not exaggerating!) so it is nice to mix it up and get him new books. I am putting together a special bag for him to have at the hospital and plan on putting some of the new books in there. I also got him stickers, paper and some activity books. He will be getting a Little Tykes shopping cart for his toy room when we get home from the hospital. Brody continues to amaze us with his number and letter recognition and is up to recognizing around 17 alphabet letters! This kid even counted to 3 in Spanish last week. This is such a great age as he is picking up everything he hears around him, such a little sponge! Last week he brought me his letter M alphabet magnet from the fridge, showed it to me and said "M" and then turned it over and said "W". Pretty amazing for 27 months old!

We are officially in the final countdown of the arrival of the baby and she is playing tricks on us as to when she is going to arrive. I thought for sure we were having her last Wednesday night as I had painful, persistent contractions from 7pm to midnight but then they stopped. She is showing lots of signs that she will be coming sometime soon so now we just wait! The doctor says it could be any day but in the end it is up to the baby so we will see! Brody was born last Friday when you look at the pregnancy time. The heat is definitely a little harder to bear at 9 months pregnant but I will survive a few more weeks. All worth it so we can have one child with a summer birthday! We have things ready to go, now we just wait for her to be ready!
