On Friday we took Brody in for his 18 month check up. He is doing great! He weighs 27 pounds which puts him in the 63 percentile for weight (moving on up!) and he is 32 inches tall which puts him in the 36 percentile for height. Daddy and Mommy have come to the realization that since neither one of us are tall, we have probably passed that trait on to Brody. He continues to exceed expectations in the milestone department. When the doctor asked if he says at least 4 words and I said he is saying around 14 she thought that was great! He is still mostly talking full sentences in his own little language but he continues to pick up on new words all the time. The newest are "go" and "goat". He got two shots on Friday and Mommy was absolutely RELIEVED to find out that he will not have anymore until he is preschool age. The doctor says Brody is eating great and she can tell that by his weight, she was really happy with where he is in weight. A happy doctor makes for a happy Mom and Dad. We are just so truly blessed with such a healthy, happy, wonderful little guy!
Something new that Brody has started doing that Mommy is pretty proud of is "reading" his own books. When Mommy changes his diaper or is getting him dressed in the morning, he is given a book and he will go through each page and "read" it in his own little language. Guess all of the story times each day and the book readings while he was in the womb are starting to pay off. :) He is also really interested in singing and constantly wants Mommy to sing to him so he can sing along. Very cute!
On Saturday we took Brody out to Buffalo for his first trip to a farm. We had temperatures in the 80's so we decided to get out and enjoy it while it lasted, a big change from the low 60's and wind we had last weekend. Brody actually got to go there twice, once in the morning with Jackson while Daddy was doing yard work and then we went back in the afternoon. They call this farm a "Pumpkin Farm" which it has a pumpkin patch along with animals and different activities for the children to do. The highlight of our afternoon trip was Brody got to ride his first horse! The horse ride was just one horse with a person leading him so it was easy for Mommy to walk along with Brody. We had thought about letting him ride at the pumpkin patch last week but there were several horses going at once and it would have been difficult to keep up the pace if Brody was scared. He sure showed us because he was not afraid at all and absolutely loved it! Brody got to see baby goats, calfs, chickens and a rabbit. One of the baby calfs liked liking Brody's legs. One of the goats climbed up on a hay bale and was eating some of the pumpkin squash that was for sale which was pretty funny! We had a lot of fun and it was nice to enjoy the nice weather. On Saturday night we celebrated our good friend Tiffany's birthday with dinner at their house. Brody had a great time playing with Tatum and chasing around balloons (and chasing each other!)
