Today Mommy and Daddy celebrate 3 wonderful years of marriage! It is exciting to look back at all we have accomplished over the past 3 years: getting married, buying our first home, getting our first puppy, having a baby, buying a new car. Life has been extremely good to us so far and we are excited to see what the future holds. There is a saying that states "the best is yet to come" but at this point it is hard to imagine it getting any better, especially all the joy we have experienced in the last 17 and a half months (Thank you Brody!)
This weekend we went to Chicago as a family weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We had decided last year that we would try and go a little somewhere (within driving distance) each year rather than go over board on gifts for each other. On Saturday we went shopping for several hours. Brody of course made out pretty well, getting some new fall clothes and two new pairs of shoes. Last year we were able to find a lot of summer clothes to fit for the following year but weren't so lucky this time. Daddy bought Mommy a new camera which we have needed for awhile now. Digital cameras just don't seem to last that long as the one we have is only 2 years old. On Saturday night we went to a very nice dinner at Weber Grill. We had planned on going to P.F. Changs but the wait there was over an hour and a half. Dinner was wonderful and you would not believe the kids meals at this restaurant, an entree, three sides, a drink and desert for $7.00. We usually would pay around $5 or $6 at just a regular restaurant and not get half the amount of food. Brody had his favorite, grilled cheese, and Daddy enjoyed a nice steak. I think we all ate enough to last us a week. We went swimming at the hotel after wards and I swear girls just flock to our son everywhere we go. There were 3 young girls swimming and all they wanted to do was be near Brody and went on and on about how cute and good he was. He loves kids so much and he enjoyed interacting with the girls and laughing with them. On Sunday we took Brody to Shedd Aquarium. When we arrived they told us it was going to be around a 2 hour wait to get in. Daddy doesn't like to wait in line and he wanted to leave but Mommy convinced him to wait it out for a little while. Needless to say we lucked out by having Brody's stroller (we got to go in a separate line from the main line) and got in within 45 minutes. And boy was it worth it! Daddy had not been there since high school and Mommy had taken her students there her first year teaching/living in Chicago (which was 8 years ago) and it has changed so much. Brody LOVED it and had a great time. We enjoyed a nice lunch over looking Lake Michigan. There is so much to do there and so many exhibits we were there for several hours. We got to see the Beluga Whales playing with balls and Brody said "Baaaal". What a great weekend we had and can't wait to do it again sometime! Thanks to everyone for the Anniversary wishes, it has been another great year for us!
On a sadder note, we would like to ask everyone to keep Mommy's Grandma Seng in their prayers as her health has taken a turn for the worse over the past few days. We will be heading to Cedar Rapids sometime this weekend to visit her. We love you Grandma!
