Junior Bix and Bix Weekend

Last Friday night, Brody finished his first race, the Junior Bix! We had bad thunderstorms Friday afternoon, causing some large tree limbs to fall in front of our house and many people to loose power, so we afraid the race might be canceled but the storms cleared up just in time. Brody walked the race with Mommy. He fell to his knees once (no scrapes though) and Mommy had to carry him a few feet but other than that he walked the whole way and did great! (If you look closely at the bottom picture you will see Brody walking with Mommy in the background during the race, Mommy is wearing a black shirt) All children receive a t-shirt and medal for doing the race. Congratulations Brody, you have one proud Mommy and Daddy! Cousin Jackson and Aunt Kari did the race with us and cousins Julia and Maggie did the race with their age groups. Congratulations to Jackson, Maggie and Julia, you all did great!!

We had a pretty busy weekend. Aunt Kimberly and Craig got into town on Thursday night and we all had dinner at Grandma Barb's. Friday night we were all down at the race and then Saturday morning Aunt Kimberly, Aunt Melissa and Craig all did the Bix 7 Race. Congratulations to all of them for a great finish! On Saturday night we went to dinner at La Flama in Moline with everyone and then went miniture golfing in Coal Valley. Brody enjoyed watching everyone golf and liked all the sites at the golf course, we can't wait until he is old enough to golf with us. Julia and Maggie are becoming quite the little golfers and both managed to get a few hole in ones! After golfing we all enjoyed some ice cream, Brody favorite, but now a days he is more interested in cake cones than anything else.

On Sunday we were able to get together with our friends Jordan and Stephanie, who were in town from Minnesota. Carvell, Tiffany, Tatum and baby Carvel also joined us and introduced their new addition to Jordan and Steph. Brody loved playing with Cater and Tatum, it is so nice to have friends with children so close in age. Carter is a just about a month and a half shy of celebrating his first birthday, which puts him just 6 months younger than Brody and Tatum is just one year older. Carter and Tatum enjoyed playing in Brody's toy room with all of his toys!

On Monday we were able to get together with the Wren side of the family at Daddy's Aunt Debbie's house for a cook out. Daddy's cousin Angie has a son, Ryder, who is about 3 months older than Brody. After having a great time eating popsicles, Brody and Ryder enjoyed playing the piano. The kids had a great time playing together.

Brody continues to walk like crazy and has even picked up a bit of a run from time to time. He is still teething and although it doesn't seem to bother him much he has been up in the night almost every night this week. We think it is kind of a game to him because once we get him out of his crib when we hear him crying he starts talking up a storm and laughing and refusing to go back to sleep. Things are going great here, just having a busy summer and looks to continue that way through September. We will be heading out to Virginia Beach for vacation here in a few weeks and we can't wait!
