14 months old

Brody officially turned 14 months old yesterday. It is crazy to think it has already been two months since his 1st birthday. This really is a great age because he is doing new things everyday and learning so much! We love to watch him discover new things and figure things out on his own for the first time. It is amazing how he learns to do things that we have never shown him how to do. He is one smart little boy!

This weekend we took Brody to Niabi Zoo on Saturday. They have done some improvements to the zoo over the winter since our last trip there in the fall. We saw many baby animals, including two new baby giraffes. Brody is still pretty unaware of what is going on but enjoyed getting out in the fresh air and did like watching the birds fly. Mommy and Daddy had a wedding for a friend of Mommy's on Saturday night. We had planned on taking Brody but decided since cocktails started at 6 we would probably not eat dinner until closer to 8 which would put it too close to Brody's bedtime. We were right and dinner did get started until almost 9 so it was a good call to not take Brody. We were home by 10 and our little man had been sound asleep since 8.

This is the time of year when Daddy travels quite a bit for work. Last week he spent a few days in Minneapolis and this Saturday he will be leaving for L.A. for a week.

Brody continues to be cutting teeth like crazy and it seems this is causing him to wake up during the night on a regular basis. It is so hard when we have been spoiled with such a great sleeper up until now. Mommy is definitely hoping this is just as phase as she has been up with Brody at either 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30 for the last 5 nights! We got his third haircut yesterday. It is nice and short for summer but with the way it grows we are sure we will have to get it done again in a couple weeks. Brody continues to take several steps on his own and surprises us sometimes by just walking across the room to get something before falling down. He will walk all around the house holding Mommy's hand. We have noticed that he will not walk on command, several family members have wanted to see him walk but he will only do it when he wants to do it. He has quite the little personality and definitely has a mind of his own! Since he is not able to communicate with us yet he has resorted to throwing a fit when he does not like something. He knows how to get our attention and knows just what to do to get what he wants!

We would like to wish Grandma Barb and Roy a Happy 1 Year Anniversary this Sunday! We are also anxiously awaiting the birth of our friends Carvell and Tiffany's second child. They go in to be induced tomorrow morning so hopefully we will be meeting their little man tomorrow night!
