We finally got a big snowstorm this winter and the kids were so excited!! Last weekend we ended up with almost 14 inches of snow. We haven't had a storm like that in over 4 years so we definitely were due! There was a lot of drifting with the storm and some of the drifts were taller than the kids! That was last weekend and this weekend we had some pretty warm temperatures that melted about half of what we got last weekend (if not a little more). We have had a pretty mild winter and definitely cannot complain as the temperatures have been good and we have had little snow. The kids have been dying to build a snowman and finally got their wish this weekend. The little snows we have had in the past few months just have not been the right type of snow for a snowman. We buildt a tall one on Saturday but he has already almost melted. :(
Everyone is doing great here, we are busy with our normal routine and trying to fit as many fun activities in as we can to help beat our cabin fever in the winter months. We went to the movies and saw Paddington a few weeks ago which was very cute. I have been taking the kids swimming at the Y and to the Children's Museum. I try to spread things out to only once or twice a month so we don't get bored of doing the same things all the time. We attended a birthday party for one of Brody's school friends at Monkey Joe's two weekends ago and also went on a field trip with Briana's class to the museum. Both kids continue to do very well in school and I receive excellent reports from both teachers each day so we are so very proud of both of them. Briana is adjusting well and has recently stopped crying at drop off so that is a huge relief for me! It was breaking my heart to drop her off and have her be so sad! She has a wonderful teacher whom she is very attached too. Next year she will be with Brody's current teacher who she is very used to and really likes. She will then stay with her for two years. So hard to believe but next year Brody will be in Kindergarten! I know he is ready and is going to do great!
We have been working a lot on reading and spelling and he is doing great with both of those. He also enjoys drawing and coloring and is really paying attention to detail now and taking his time to complete different activities. He is very bright and continues to be interested in learning new things all the time. He is very curious about everything and asks lots of questions! Briana is very much a girl, she loves princesses, dress up and tea parties. Her vocabulary is through the roof and we often wonder where she gets the things she says! She also enjoys coloring and art activities and most of the time just likes being silly. She is a ball full of energy! We are truly blessed with our two sweet kids and are thankful everyday for both of them!
