We just got back from a little over a week long vacation to Denver to visit Kim, Craig and baby Carter. Carter was baptized a little over a week ago and we also had a wedding to attend in Denver so we were able to make a nice long vacation out of it. We drove out there and decided to leave at night so the kids would sleep for a good chunk of the drive and we would be able to get out there at a reasonable time and still have daytime to enjoy. Melissa, Brett and the girls and Grandma Barb also came out to Colorado for the baptism, along with Craig's Dad and sister.
When we arrived on Saturday we went to the Coors Brewery tour with everyone. Cousin Maggie rode in our car which was probably Brody and Briana's favorite part! :) On Sunday we had Carter's baptism and Tim was Carter's Godfather along with Craig's sister as the Godmother. Carter did so great during the ceremony and did not even make a peep during the baptism part! He was sleeping when they poured the water on him so I think that startled him more than anything. All of the kids did very well at church and Brody and Briana sat with Maggie again which was very exciting for them! Kim and Craig had a nice brunch at their home after the ceremony. Such a nice day!
On Monday we took the kids to the Denver Zoo. It was a beautiful day and the majority of the animals were out. It is such a nice zoo and very big! We took Brody when he was 6 months old when we were in Colorado for another wedding. We were in a hurry the first time we went so we didn't really get to see anything so it was nice to be able to go this time and really take our time. The kids rode the merry go round and enjoyed eating popcorn. Briana said the zoo was her favorite part of the whole trip!
On Tuesday we took the kids to the Denver Aquarium. We had also gone to the aquarium 5 years ago when we went to Denver but for some reason I don't remember it very well. It was not very busy as kids are back in school so it was nice to be able to see everything without any large crowds. The neatest part of the aquarium is that both Brody and Briana got to feed some fish little crickets! They thought it was the coolest thing ever! They also have tigers at the aquarium and an area to touch and feel stingrays. We had a lot of fun there! After the aquarium we made a quick stop at the Hammond Candy Factory for a tour. The kids were able to pick a few things out at the candy store afterwards.
On Wednesday we went to the outlet mall for shopping. The mall is near the mountains and very pretty. We found some pretty good deals and bought a few things for the kids and for ourselves.
On Thursday we took the kids to the Denver Children's Museum. It was so nice! They have three floors and tons of very neat stuff for the kids to do. I can't wait until Carter is old enough to go with the kids and play. They are building on a ton to the museum so the next time we go it will probably be very different. Brody loved building things and shooting off paper rockets. Briana also loved shooting off the paper rockets and painting in the art area.
On Friday we went to the Nature and Science Museum. This was also 3 floors with tons of hands on things for the kids to do. Brody and Briana both really enjoyed the space floor with all the hands on activities. They had a story time about planets and Brody loved answering tons of questions. We loved how the museum was very interactive!
On Saturday we went to breakfast in the morning and spent most of the day getting everything packed and ready to leave. Tim and I had a wedding to go to on Saturday night for a friend of Tim's that was in our wedding. Kids were not allowed so Aunt Kimberly was sweet enough to watch the kids for us while we went. The wedding was up in the mountains and very pretty. We decided to leave to drive home after the wedding since Tim had to work on Monday and we wanted a little time to get things in order once we got home.
We had such a wonderful time and are so thankful to Kim and Craig for letting us stay with them and for showing us such a good time! We miss them all already! It was so nice to get to spend so much time with Carter and we definitely gave him lots of snuggles!!
