Fall Fun, Two Year Check Up, Music and Art Class!

The past month has flew by!  Now that we are back in our fall routine of classes, preschool, library, etc our mornings are so busy they fly by!

Brody continues to do awesome at school!  Last Wednesday I went to meet with his teacher for our beginning of the year visit (requirement of all preschool parents).  I like how they did it after school had been in session for awhile unlike other schools that do it prior to school starts because then you are able to get a feel for how things are going so far.  Brody is doing exceptional and the teacher couldn't be prouder!  She said she has seen a lot of growth in him in just the last month and that this will be a huge year for him.  They have started the beginning of the year assessments to see where the kids are in a variety of areas.  So far he has scored 100% on the three assessments given!!  She said the math one is usually difficult for this kids at the beginning of the year but Brody aced it with flying colors!  He continues to amaze us each and every day. He is now writing numbers and letters and really taking off with his fine motor skills.  He continues to love art and makes art projects every day.  We are so so proud of him!

We had Briana's 2 year baby well check up a few weeks ago.  She is still a tiny little peanut, only weighing 23 pounds which puts her in the 8% for weight and she is only in the 4% for height.  She is tiny, petite as the doctor calls her, and they are trying to give us ways to fatten her up, but do not seem overly concerned as she is so tiny in height as well.  She is most likely just going to be small for her age.  She eats a variety of things, just not a ton of food, so I am not overly worried about her.  We feed our kids a variety of healthy meals and try to stay away from the junk and the doctor said so many parents feed their kids fast food regularly which is why so many kids are overweight and that also ups the weight average which makes tiny little girls like Briana score lowly on the weight chart.  She looks healthy and is happy and that is all that matters.  She blew the doctor away with all of her talking, it was really neat!  She said she had never seen a barely 2 year old not only talk so much but talk so clear that all she says is understood.  I get that a lot even from strangers out and about that she talks so much and so clearly for her age.  She can count to 10, is starting to name colors and can sing a variety of songs including her ABC's.  She is a bright little girl!  She is very funny and tries her hardest to get a laugh out of us.  She is very testing of our patience as she climbs everything and is a daredevil.  She hates shoes and clothes.  The other day when Brody was at school I was throwing in some laundry and came to find her completely naked with the t.v. on sitting on the couch.  When I asked her what she was doing she said "Hi Mommy, I am watching t.v. with my butt!"  Yep, that's our girl!

Our fall weather is still pretty nice so we have been enjoying it as much as we can!  Last weekend we took the kids to the apple orchard with Aunt Melissa and the girls and Grandma Barb.  Brody was really starting to get the hang of it last year but this year he was an old pro.  Briana enjoyed picking apples this year as well!  I think their favorite part was eating them! :)

We attended the fall festival put on by the Davenport Libraries a few weeks ago. The kids had such a great time!  This is something really neat they do each year and the kids get a free book (we got 2 this year), they have bounce houses, a petting zoo, hay rack rides, it's a lot of fun and it is free!  The kids are both really in to feeding animals so they loved that part.  And of course loved the bounce houses!!

All of our classes for the fall have started up over the past month.  Briana has started her first music class and I have to say it is going very well!  I am very surprised with how well she does with sitting and following directions, you just never know what will happen with a barely two year old.  It is such a cute class with 4 little girls in it all around Briana's age.  We have also started art class and lucky for us they opened a new session in Davenport and it happens to be on Thursday so both kids can go!  Brody is doing AWESOME!!  Not that he has not always enjoyed the class but now that he has matured some he gets so much more out of it and he is SO into the projects, I love it!!  Briana does pretty well, she is with the older group of kids because they did not have enough sign up for the younger class so it was cancelled.  She is by far the youngest in the class but with her brother there I think that helps and she follows by example.  I am also doing library story time with Briana on Wednesdays while Brody is at school.  She doesn't really like to sit for the 3 to 4 stories that are read just yet but neither do most of the other kids there so that's okay!  It is a lot of singing and dancing which she loves!  We are so busy that our only free morning now is Tuesdays which we fill quickly with the kids choice activity for the week.
