Happy 4th of July and summer fun!

We had a great, laid back 4th of July this year!  We took the kids to see fireworks on Wednesday night and both really enjoyed it.  Brody kept trying to guess what color would be next and Briana could not stop saying "I really like those pretties Mommy!"  We took the kids to the Whitewater Junction water park and had a blast.  It was surprisingly not busy and we were able to enjoy all that they had to offer.  We had a picnic at Scott County Park and enjoyed the fact that Daddy had 4 days in a row off work.

Last weekend we celebrated Grandma Wren's 80th birthday.  We were so excited that Papa Mike and Grandma Debbie got to come for the events.  They had not seen the kids since January so it is always fun to show off all the new things they can do!  Brody was counting down the days for months to see his Grandparents, he was beyond excited!  Aunt Kimberly also came in for the party and as always it is great to see her.  She brought her two dogs which Briana got a kick out of. We had a busy weekend with lots of things going on.  Wish Papa Mike and Grandma Debbie could have stayed longer, this trip seemed super short this time! :(

The kids continue to grow and change everyday.  I had to take Briana in for a doctor's appointment two weeks ago and the little thing is only 22 pounds.  She is so tiny but has a huge personality.  We are in the full blown "NO" stage and she will pretty much say no to everything we ask her to do! :)  She continues to amaze us with her talking and is talking non stop.  She is very shy around people she does not know and definitely clings to Mom and Dad in those situations.  She copies everything her brother does and idolizes his every move.  They are very sweet together and really have a sweet relationship.  Brody asks Briana all the time "Do you want to play with me Nannie?"  (Nannie is her nickname).  Briana is so independent and really wants to do things all on her own.  She loves to take her shoes and clothes off and would prefer to be naked most of the time if we would let her.  She is counting to 10 and starting to name some of her colors.  She is very bright and eager to learn.  She has a mind of her own and likes to do things her way.  She is so funny and cracks us up daily!

Hard to believe but our daughter will be two in just over two weeks!!  Her party is next weekend as we could not get a pool booked the weekend of her birthday because everything was full back in May.  She will be having a Minnie Mouse themed party as Minnie is her favorite at the moment.  She is very excited for her Minnie cake and has asked for a "Rella" (Cinderella) bike as a gift.  She is a typical girl and loves Minnie and Cinderella (or most any Disney princess)

Brody continues to be doing great at school and we couldn't be prouder of him.  He has learned how to cut with scissors and is very into art right now.  He loves drawing, cutting and writing.  We are still working on writing his name but I am noticing that everything comes for him in his own time so I will just continue working with him as he is interested.  We do a lot of "hand over hand" when it comes to fine motor skills and he will specifically ask for that when he wants help.  He is a show off and loves to show others what he can do (and loves the attention as well).  He loves kids and can play with anyone he meets anywhere we go.  He is in a very silly stage right now with goofy dances and goofy names for things, anything to get a laugh!  and once he knows someone thinks he is funny he will keep doing things to make them laugh!  He is at such a fun age, I love every minute!

Our summer continues to be busy and we are working to make the most of it.  It is very, very hot this week so we have been getting out some but mostly trying to stay cool!
