First Dentist Visit and Happy Birthday Grandma's!

This morning we had Brody's first dentist visit.  Our pediatricin recommends going between 2 and a half and three years old.  Brody just got his 2 year molars in right before his birthday so I wanted to wait until they were fully in to go as part of the purpose of the first visit is to make sure all baby teeth are in and growing correctly.  Brody did so well he amazed me.  I will admit I was nervous because he is not the biggest fan of getting his teeth brushed and never has been.  I let him do it himself these days and then go over it to make sure he didn't miss any spots.  He sat so nicely for the hygentist and then we waited a good 20 minutes for the dentist and he just sat in my lap in the chair.  I am truly so proud of him and how well he did, he is really growing up!!

This weekend the weather was nice so we enjoyed it by going to a few different parks, going on a few walks and just playing outside around the house.  It was near 80 a few days last week so that was very nice.  Daddy was gone most of last week on buisness so the kids and I did some fun things while he was gone.  He was in Minneapolis from early Sunday morning until late Wednesday night for a trade show, then turned around and left for a day trip on Thursday morning.  This is definitely his busy time of year!

Last weekend Aunt Kimberly was in town.  It is always great to see her.  The kids enjoy spending time with their aunt.  Briana is growing so quickly that she looked a lot different than the last time Kim saw her.  It's always sad to see her go but hopefully she will be home again soon.

Both of Brody's Grandma's, Grandma Diane and Grandma Barb, had birthdays over the past few weeks so we would like to wish them a very Happy Birthday and wonderful year to come.  We were able to celebrate with both of them with dinner and cake.  Brody's favorite part obviously is the cake but he has really gotten the hang of singing Happy Birthday with all the birthdays we have in both our families this time of year!

Briana turned 9 months old last Thursday.  Hard to believe she will be 1 year old in just three months.  She has started clapping this past week which is definitely one of those things that melts my heart, so sweet!  She continues to army crawl and is going further distances with it.  Her 9 month appointment is on Friday so it will be interesting for us to see how much she weighs and if she is big enough to move onto her big girl car seat.

Another sweet Mommy moment this week was one of the cloudy days we had and Brody asked me if the "sun was sleeping?"  So stinking cute!  He is really exploding with language over the past few weeks and is saying new things all the time.  He recognizes stores and certain places we go often and asks for them by name.

Not much else is new here.  Hope everyone is doing well!

Seems like the visit went well! I hope both of them grow up valuing the importance of oral hygiene. It’s a great start that they are introduced to it at an early age. Keep it up and hopefully these two will get to keep their set of pearly whites in the future! --Dr. Brent

For someone who doesn’t like getting his teeth brushed, it seems he did a great job on his first dental visit. I bet you couldn’t be prouder of him afterwards. Indeed, your kids are growing up. Before you know it, they’ve outgrown believing the tooth fairy, and start visiting the dentist all by themselves. But for now, savor these moments when you get to hold them while the dentist poke their mouths. Haha! Have a great day!
