This past Thursday we had our first official snow fall of the year. We ended up getting a few inches and yesterday it was warm enough to go out so Brody got to enjoy playing in it. Once he had all his snow gear on it was a little hard for him to get around but he enjoyed the snow nonetheless. Daddy made a small snowman and Brody played basketball and loved going down his slide because the snow made it extra fast.
Not much has happened over the past week. We have had way above normal temperatures for the past month, some days even in the 50's, so we have been playing outside some and enjoying our spring like temperatures in January. We have been working on potty training Brody. We spend a lot of time in the bathroom but he doesn't seem to really "get it" yet. I have been told by many that boys are hard to train and I am definitely starting to see that. He will go sometimes but he doesn't seem to know when he has to go. He loves stickers right now so I thought he would enjoy putting stickers on his chart when he goes but that has not worked as I thought. We will get there in time I know, it is not like he will go to college in diapers. I bought a book that has two strategies in it, one is the gradual approach and one is potty training boot camp in a few days. Since the gradual approach doesn't seem to be getting us very far we may be trying the boot camp in the near future.
Other than that Brody is doing great. In 8 short weeks from today we will have a 3 year old little boy! SO crazy that the time has gone by this fast! It has been so fun watching him turn into the sweet, loving, funny little boy that he is today. He definitely is my little side kick and I love spending every day with him so much! For Christmas Brody got a Leap Frog Story Pad from Grandma Diane and Grandpa Mel and a Leap Frog Laptop (they call it a "Leaptop") from us and these both seem to be favorite toys right now. You can program them with your computer so it is completely personalized and says Brody's name and you can also choose the different songs you would like it to play. Very neat and he loves to sit there and play with both of these and shows us all the things they can do. He is always looking to learn something new. He is still loving Rock Out Elmo also and we dance with Elmo daily, so fun!!
Briana has really started playing with her toys this week. She has been able to grasp toys for a few weeks now but over the past few days she has really started to play with her rattles and toy rings. She got a baby grand piano from my parents for Christmas and I have been sitting her in her Bumbo chair up close to it and she just loves to watch the keys light up. She can't quite reach it yet but she enjoys watching it when it plays music on it's own. She has been loving it when we fake laugh, it makes her crack up. She also loves watching her brother, that always makes her laugh! She is getting stronger by the day and is starting to try and inch her way across the floor. She has also figured out how to pick up her pacifier and put it back in her mouth.
I made my first batch of cake pops ever over the weekend. It was an experimental batch but my favorite little taste tester gave me his seal of approval. I'm sure he will be asking me to make them again!!
Brody and Briana are modeling the very cute Hawkeye hats they got from our wonderful neighbors, The Dunsworth's, for Christmas this year in a photo above. Don't they look cute!!
