Summer Fun and Happy Birthday Grandma Candy!

This has been a very exciting week around our house as Brody continues to amaze us everyday! We have a lift the flap book of numbers 1-10 which we read often (thank you Grandma Debbie and Papa Mike). The other day Brody was looking at a page where the numbers are out of order and he successfully named each one correctly on his own! I was shocked so I got out the dry erase board and started writing numbers and sure enough he could name all of them! I told Tim and as soon as he got home from work he did the same thing and Brody named them correctly again. This is so exciting for us to watch! We then decided to write letters of the alphabet and Brody was able to get 12 of those correct. Each time we did the letters and numbers out of order to make sure he wasn't memorizing them in an order (blame the teacher in me as I used to do this with my students also) but he was getting them correct no matter what order they were in. I know we are totally bias as he is our son but we think we have quite the little smarty pants on our hands!

This weekend Aunt Kimberly came into town for a short visit and Tim's Aunt Leslie, Uncle Chris and cousins Carsen and Zach were also in town from Arizona. We got together on Sunday at Aunt Deb's and all of the cousins had a great time playing together outside. On Saturday night we celebrated Grandma Candy's 81st birthday with dinner at her house. It was so nice to have Kimberly here to celebrate. This was the last time we will see her before she becomes a Jakubowski in just a few short weeks. Such an exciting time for all of us and we know it is going to be such a beautiful wedding! We are very excited to be gaining Craig as a brother and uncle.

We are having a heat advisory over the past few days here so it has been super hot. Brody has played in his little pool and also went over to Grandpa Mel and Grandma Diane's to swim in the big pool. Brody loves playing with bubbles right now so we have been getting out the bubbles almost every time we go outside these days. He also enjoys finding Addie's dog balls outside and collecting them and throwing them. We have decided to take it easy this weekend even though it is the Fourth of July with me being pregnant and it being so hot. I'm sure we will do a little something but for right now we are focusing on staying cool. Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!!
