27 months and Happy Father's Day!

Brody turned 27 months old this weekend and we had a very nice weekend celebrating Father's Day. On Friday night we went and had a very nice dinner at Thunder Bay. We are spending a lot of time at home lately with me being 8 months pregnant so it was very nice for the 3 of us to have a nice night out. Brody as usual charmed the waitress which is always cute. On Saturday we went to Dubuque to celebrate the wedding of my life long neighbor, Ryan Neilson. This was Brody's first official wedding reception with a sit down dinner. He had been to two receptions as a baby and a few weeks ago made an appearance at a dessert reception but this was the first time he has been to a real one. He was very well behaved and as usual charmed the waitress again. The lady that was helping our table took a real liking to him and was constantly checking on him and bringing him things. The reception was at the Grand Harbor Resort which was a very nice place and has a beautiful view of the river in the back. Brody enjoyed playing out back. For Father's Day we took things easy. They installed a spray area at the park close to our house so we took Brody down there to play in it. He had a blast! He did not want to get his whole body in there but he managed to soak his shorts and shirt. Later in the afternoon we went swimming and had dinner at Grandpa Mel's and Grandma Diane's. After swimming Brody enjoyed watching some golf in his hooded towel which will make his Papa Mike proud (as well as his Daddy!)

Brody continues to amaze us with the things he is picking up and saying. He can now point to several shapes: square, circle, oval, heart, rectangle and star when asked where they are and he can clearly say circle and oval. He is repeating words from his books that we read on a regular basis and we often find him reading to himself. He is picking up words in certain children's songs and loves to sing along with us. It really is something new everyday which is what makes this age so fun!

We had our 33 week appointment on Friday. Baby is doing well and even though I can't seem to gain weight she is measuring right on track so the doctor says not to worry. I guess she is just taking everything from me so there is no weight left to gain. We are in the final stretch with just 6 weeks to go. I think we are ready, we have made most of the preparations, there are just a few odds and ends we need to pick up. Say your prayers that she stays put for as long as possible and that we have a safe and healthy delivery!

Hope everyone is doing well and Happy Father's Day to all of our favorite Dad's out there!
