1 year, 3 weeks old

As mentioned in a previous post, Brody had his 1 year check up on March 26th. At this appointment he received 3 vaccinations and we were told he may possibly react to them and that the reaction could come up to two weeks later. Possible reactions include fever and rash. Last Monday Brody started running a low grade fever, right around 100 degrees. He was acting totally fine so we figured it was just a reaction to the shots. By Wednesday he was still running the fever so Mommy called the Doctor's office and they said it is normal for him to run a fever from the shots for up to 72 hours and to not be surprised if he broke out in a rash soon after. By early evening Thursday he was STILL running the fever so Mommy called and made a Doctor's appointment for Friday morning. Thankfully Brody checked out fine, the Doctor said it was probably a combination of the vaccinations and a little something viral because his throat was a little red. Saturday morning his fever was up to 101. This is so scary, especially when it has been going on for almost a week! He continued to act fine and eat well, he was just a little crankier than normal. Saturday night we celebrated our 30th birthdays with a party and it was extremely tough to leave Brody. Aunt Kari watched him for us so we knew he was in good hands but it still was really tough knowing he wasn't feeling his best. His fever finally broke while she was watching him on Saturday night. We picked him up around 11:30 and could tell immediately the fever was gone just by touching him. Sunday morning he woke up covered in the rash we were told about, all over his stomach and back. It was pretty faint and doesn't seem to bother him much. It seems to mostly be gone this morning. He has never had a reaction to any of his vaccinations before. Hopefully we don't have this type of reaction ever again!

Brody continues to be doing great! We are truly loving every minute. We forgot to mention previously but we turned his car seat around to facing forward the weekend of his birthday. It is so nice to be able to turn around and see him and not just see his reflection through the baby mirror. Brody continues to do great with eating table food, he is trying a variety of foods and seems to enjoy everything we give him. He really likes exploring his food with his hands and sticks his fingers in his bowls or onto his plates. We have been getting out a lot more and enjoying the nice Spring weather we have been having. Mommy takes Brody on a walk each day as long as the weather is nice and sometimes we go for a second walk when Daddy gets home. We have been sitting out on our deck at night and Brody loves to watch the birds. Brody is now standing on his own for minutes at a time and continues to steadily walk with his walking toys so we know walking on his own is just around the corner! We got Brody's hair cut for the second time yesterday. We decided to cut it shorter than last time with summer coming up and the fact that it grows so fast! Natalie used the clippers this time instead of the scissors and Brody did great! He looks so cute with his new hair cut!!
